Police High Command condemns slaying of cop
published: Sunday | November 23, 2003

MEMBERS OF the Police High Com-mand have condemned the slaying of Sergeant Kingsley Lyn, 48, of the Spanish Town Police Station, who was shot and killed by one of two gunmen at Meadowrest Memorial Park in St. Catherine on Friday.

Sergeant Lyn served the Jamaica Constabulary for 28 years and worked at a number of divisions. He is the 11th policeman to be killed since the start of the year.

In a statement yesterday, the Police High Command said all resources would be mobilised to bring his killers to justice. "Where law enforcers are attacked in this fashion, the society and those who offer these criminals elements refuge, are made all the more vulnerable."

The High Command urged all "well-thinking Jamaicans" to assist the police in their fight to curtail crime in the country.

Commissioner of Police Francis Forbes and the High Command also expressed condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Sergeant Lyn.
