Boxhill tackles Burrell for JFF crown today
published: Sunday | November 23, 2003

BOXHILL and BURRELL

CRENSTON Boxhill tackles incumbent Captain Horace Burrell for the Jamaica Football Federation's presidential crown at its Congress sitting at Trelawny's Starfish resort today.

Boxhill is the Clarendon Football Association (CFA) president and also a JFF vice-president by virtue of the fact that he is a chairman of a football Confederation (South Central).

The quadrennial sitting of the sport's delegates is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. with 104 people eligible to vote.

They include 10 from KSAFA (Kingston and St. Andrew FA) and five from each of the other 12 parish football associations, plus the Federation's 30 executives and four from two minor affiliates Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) and the Jamaica Football Referees Association (JFRA).

The voting process is the 13th item on a 17-point agenda and each candidate only needs to gain a maximum vote of 53 to win the presidency.

It is the first time since Burrell took office in 1994 that he is being challenged for the post of JFF president.

A number of other executive positions are to be decided by the vote, namely first, second and third vice presidents, treasurer and executive officer.
