TORONTO, Canada, CMC:
THE WEST Indies A team participated in a gruelling two-hour workout in overcast, but extremely humid conditions on Wednesday at G. Ross Lord Park ground just outside of Toronto.
Coach Gus Logie said the net session "went well" despite the humidity.
"We have not experienced this kind of heat in the last six weeks," said Logie.
"The boys however used a lot of water and they had a thorough net session on a pitch that was devoid of grass, but still played true."
The West Indies A team arrived on Tuesday afternoon after completing a six-week tour of Ireland and England.
Test players Chris Gayle and Marlon Black along with Jamaican youth opener Donovan Pagon did not make the trip to Toronto.
Logie said Gayle was recalled because the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) selectors felt that he had played a lot of cricket in the past six months.
Black returned to the Caribbean for the funeral of his father who was murdered in Puerto Rico, while Pagon suffered a rib injury during the just
concluded England tour.
The team was scheduled to practice again yesterday at the same venue, ahead of their tour opener, the first of three limited overs matches against Canada at Ajax ground today.
The tourists will conclude the four-match visit with a two-day game against Canada on August 7-8 at Toronto Cricket Club ground.
