By Deon Evans, Freelance WriterTHREE PERSONS were wounded by bullets yesterday when the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's "Festival Train" stopped in Alexandria, St. Ann.
The Gleaner understands that Paul Markland, a Kingston-based security guard travelling with the JCDC "train", and Steve Hill, manager of a service station, and an unidentified attendant at the service station, were the people injured.
Both the security guard and the service station manager have been hospitalised but the gas station attendant was treated at hospital and released.
The Constabulary Communication Network confirmed the shooting.
Reports are that the JCDC's "Festival Train" touring the parish stopped in Alexandria to put on an hour-long stage show. One of the buses transporting the group parked at the entrance of the service station. It is alleged that after the manager of the service station asked that the bus be removed from the entrance, an argument developed between him and a security guard travelling with the JCDC group.
Both men allegedly drew their weapons, shots were fired and the service station manager suffered a wound to the abdomen, the guard was shot in the shoulder and the attendant was hit in the palm of one of his hands.
The JCDC "Festival Train" is made up of two trucks decorated as floats, complete with the national colours and emblems which heads a convoy of vehicles criss-crossing the country.
