Jamaica lacks vision

THE EDITOR, Sir:

HOW DOES Jamaica see itself in 5, 10, 15, 20 years from now? Will we still be faltering with governing ourselves, or will we have learnt from the mistakes of the last 20 years?

Sadly, we lack vision; the desire to see ourselves do better collectively. Individually we excel at living in the present, keeping up with the Joneses and the Smiths.

I challenge Jamaicans both here and abroad to look at ourselves objectively. Seek to create harmony in our country.

We can't achieve this by finger-pointing and living in the present only. As a former high school vice principal told me, think. Common sense is the least common of all senses.
