Beenie Man's birthday bash

Worm Dem Promotions in association with Beenie Man presents Kitson Town Splash, Beenie Man and Wickerman's Birthday Bash tonight at Wynters Park, Kitson Town, St. Catherine. The show features Beenie Man, Captain Barkey & Wickerman, Bling Dawg, Cobra, George Nooks, Richie Stephens, Frisco Kid, Admiral Bailey, Tanto Metro, Future Trouble, Monster Shack Crew and others. Musical Juggling will be provided by Stone Love, Metro Media, Exodus Nuclear, Money Colonge, Brimstone, Pure Playazz, Nu Image, One Blood and special guest selector Ricky Trooper. Admission $400.

Garvey ceremony

This year marks the 114th anniversary of the birth of the Right Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey. A commemorative ceremony will be held at Lawrence Park, St. Ann's Bay today starting at 4 p.m. Guest speaker will be Mr. James Walsh, J.P., Principal, Brown's Town Community College. This year's focus will be on Garvey and his legacy.

Floral tribute

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) will be staging a Floral Tribute in honour of the 114th Anniversary of the Birth of the Right Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey today at the National Heroes Park, Heroes Circle, Kingston 4, starting at 8 a.m.

Ocho Rios After- Work Fete

Sandals Ocho Rios Resort and Golf Club will be staging a grand After- Work Fete and Raffle today at Beaches Grande Sport Car Park (on the beach) starting at 6 p.m. Music will be provided by Profile. There will also be a fashion show featuring designs from Outlook Boutique.

Are you talented and dream of the chance of being discovered? Here is your chance to shine and become a star at Negril Star Search's "Best of the Best". Trials start at noon at the MXIII Complex. Semi-finals will be tomorrow and the finals on Saturday, August 25. Emcee Richie B plus special guest artistes. Winners receive cash plus other prizes.

Dance benefit

The Jamaica Red Cross presents the National Dance Theatre Company in concert tomorrow at the Little Theatre beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are available from RCG Maintenance, 46 Upper Waterloo Road. Proceeds are in aid of Red Cross HIV/AIDS/Emergency Preparedness projects.

The Gospel Train will deliver its final show tomorrow at the Family Church on the Rock, St. Andrew.

Artist re-union

Black Roots Production celebrates Artist Re-union at Club Exclusive, Bounty Hall, Trelawny tomorrow. Featuring Triston Palmer, Josey Wales, Sugar Minott, Pinchers, Yami Bolo, The Mighty Jays. Backing band is Badd with emcee Ron Muschette. Showtime is 9:00 p.m.

Tribute to the Greats

King Omar Productions presents the fourth annual Tribute To The Greats at Curphy Place, Swallowfield, Kingston, tomorrow. Acts include The Studio One Band led by former Skatalites trumpeter "Dizzy" Johnny Moore, Chenley Duffus, King Stitt, the Clarendonions, the Ethiopians, Merlene Webber, Neville Wray, Bob Campbell, Bunny Goodison and the Afrique Happening.

There will be presentation of the video "The Promised Ship", a documentary about Garveyites in Costa Rica. This will take place on Friday, August 17, 2001, the birthday of Marcus Garvey at the PCJ Auditorium, 36 Trafalgar Road, starting at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend and a contribution will be required.

Backing bands will be the Ruff kut and M.O.B. Band. Musical juggling will be provided Stone Love, Swatch International, Y2K Platinum and Fire Links. Emcees will be Nuffy and Baldwin. Part Proceeds in aid of west Kingston.

MISS JAMAICA WORLD CHARITY SHOW

Spartan Health Club and the Rotary Club of Kingston are jointly staging the Miss Jamaica World Charity Fashion Show at the Hilton Kingston Hotel, on Sunday August 19, 2001 beginning at 7 p.m. The show is one of a series that comprise the Miss Jamaica World 2001 Pageant the finals of which will be held on September 1.

Klimax in association with Assasin presents 'Log On' a weekly dancehall and hip hop fiesta at Indies Sport Bar and Grill every Wednesday between August 8 - 29, 2001. Sashi Awards Dinner at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Ballroom, Rose Hall, Montego Bay. Beginning at 7 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. Selected invitees from fashion, music and film come together to help the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre in St. Andrew.

"Welcome to Yard" after-party follows at the Margueritaville Mobay and Coral Cliff, both on the Montego Bay Hip- Strip. Admission: Margueritaville is $500, Free at Coral Cliff. Starts at 10 p.m.

THURSDAY, August 23rd

Sashi Collection Fashion Show and Champagne After-Party at the Rose Hall Great House. The show will begin at 8 p.m. Wyclef Jean will host the presentation of the full Sashi line by the Sashi and two international, bona fide supermodels. Admission to the show is $500.

FRIDAY, August 24th

The Sashi Boxer Shorts and Bikini Party at the Sashi Beach in Ocho Rios, with celebrity hosts. Party begins at 10 p.m. Admission $1,000.

SATURDAY, August 25th

The Steven Segal Kids Day at Ocho Rios from 12 noon until 5 p.m. Basketball players will sign balls for the kids. Admission $250.

The Quiet Before The Storm begins at 10 p.m. in the Renaissance Jamaica Grande Ballroom in Ocho Rios. Performers at Sunday's concert will be special guests and a top US DJ will spin. Admission $500.

SUNDAY, August 26th

Sashi concert begins at noon at James Bond Beach in Oracabessa, St. Mary. Show will feature an array of stars from hip-hop, pop, R&B and reggae such as Puff Daddy and the Family, Shabba, Missy Elliot, Case, Jimmy Cozier, Tyrese, Kevon Edmonds, Steven Seagal, Voise Mail, TOK and Lady Saw. Admission $2,000.
