Two die in motor vehicle accidents

TWO PERSONS were killed in separate motor vehicle accidents in Portland and Clarendon on Saturday. They are Dwight Jacobs, 27, computer technician of Hatfield district, Manchester, and Enis Mundy, 75, of Alfred Lane, Portland.

The death toll as a result of motor vehicle accidents now stands at 169, from 153 fatal accidents since the start of the year, the police said.

Reports from the Constab-ulary Communication Network (CCN) are that at about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jacobs was driving his BMW motor car with two passengers. On reaching the railway crossing on the Claren-don Park main road, he reportedly crashed into the metal gate that was left open. Jacobs sustained head injuries and died on the spot. His passengers were taken to the Mandeville Hospital where they were admitted in stable condition.

Mundy's body was found with multiple injuries in a drain on the Allan Avenue main road in Portland. She is believed to have died from injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle accident on that road. The Port Antonio police who are investigating have seized a Toyota Corolla motor car registered 4793 DJ that was found abandoned on Bermuda Road with extensive damage to the windscreen and bonnet. They are seeking a man known as Michael Bredner, otherwise called "Prento", of New Road in the parish whom they believe can assist in their investigations.
