Police Inspector killed

POLICE INSPECTOR Everett Daley, 59, was shot and killed by gunmen at his Cassia Park, Kingston 10 home early yesterday morning. He is the ninth police officer killed since the start of the year.

The Constabulary Communi-cations Network (CCN) reported that at about 1:30 a.m. yesterday, Inspector Daley, his wife and their foster son drove home. While his wife and son went inside, Inspector Daley stopped to remove something from his car, when he was attacked by gunmen who shot him several times in the chest. His 9 mm service pistol was stolen by his attackers. He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Inspector Daley, who was attached to the Half-Way Tree police station, was due to begin his pre-retirement leave next month.
