Poor service

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I have been experiencing some problems using the World Talk System to call Digicel numbers. I mostly used this service in the nights, so I would pay $11.88 per minute.

On all occasions, the system reports that it will be charging me at $15 per minute, i.e. if I have $100 on my card, I would hear a recording telling me that I have six minutes when in fact I have eight minutes. If I choose to use to full value of the card, by the middle of the sixth minute, I am being informed that I have one minute left and by the seventh minute, I am told that I have 30 seconds remaining on the call then the call is terminated at about seven minutes and 35 seconds.

Please note that I am a frequent caller to C&W's operator on this matter. These calls however yield very little.

On Monday, May 14, 2001, I bought a $50 card to make the call and was cut off at three minutes 34 seconds. I called in and was told that the Digicel number went off line. I informed the representative that this was not so and she informed me that that was on the system.

The same thing happened again on Tuesday, 15/5/01 and even last night, I had three minutes for the call and was only allowed two minutes 34 seconds then the call was terminated.

Please note that each time this happens I am losing funds because I have to pay for the full time.

Can you imagine how many unsuspecting consumers are being ripped off under this system?

I am, etc.,
