Ardenne high wins tourism quiz

Ardenne High School won the Jamaica Tourist Board's (JTB)National Tourism Quiz Competition held recently at the Hilton Kingston Hotel. Munro College placed second while Manchester High was third.

Quiz sponsors JTB, Air Jamaica and SuperClubs provided an array of attractive prizes for the winners and zone finalists.

Ardenne received the JTB Trophy and a week's vacation at a SuperClubs hotel overseas. Second place winner, Munro College was awarded the Air Jamaica Trophy and one week's vacation at a SuperClubs property in Jamaica. Munro also received prizes for the Most Culturally Aware School, the Most Cohesive Team and the school with the highest points.

Third place Manchester High was awarded the SuperClubs Trophy and a weekend vacation at a local SuperClubs property. Morant Bay High was named Most Improved School.

Students were quizzed on Caribbean Affairs, Cultural Heritage Tourism, Eco-Tourism, Tourism Marketing, Global Tourism and Sports Tourism.

The JTB National Tourism Quiz was established in 1997 and is aimed at stimulating interest in tourism and increasing the level of awareness among young Jamaicans about the industry and its importance to the island's economy. A record 112 schools were registered in this year's competition making it the biggest and best in the competition's history.
