Congratulations Pearnel Charles

THE EDITOR, Sir:

KINDLY ALLOW me to congratulate Mr. Pearnel Charles on being returned as the Jamaica Labour Party's caretaker for the constituency of North Central Clarendon, in his recent selection against Dr. Percival Broderick.

I would also like to commend Dr. Broderick, whom I supported in this race, for conducting a campaign based on principles and decency and for not damaging the party in so doing.

I would also like to commend the leadership of the Jamaica Labour Party and the delegates of North Central Clarendon for proving to the public, the media and to the People's National Party, that democracy is alive and well in the Jamaica Labour Party and that the party can, without the EOJ, conduct its internal elections free and fair and democratically.

I am etc.,

MARK J. RODNEY
