Match delays PM's Budget speech

JAMAICA'S WORLD Cup qualifying match against Honduras at the National Stadium tomorrow has forced Prime Minister P.J. Patterson to postpone his Budget speech to Parliament.

"The decision to move the Prime Minister's presentation from Wednesday to Thursday, comes against the background of the staging of Jamaica's World Cup qualifying match against Honduras at the National Stadium that same evening," said a short statement from Jamaica House, yesterday.

Jamaica plays Honduras at 7:30 p.m. at the National Stadium. The OPM was unable to say late yesterday whether Mr. Patterson would be attending the match.

Opposition Leader Edward Seaga will speak in the House of Representatives this afternoon at two o'clock, as the Budget Debate continues.

Mr. Seaga is expected to speak on macro-economic matters. JLP spokesman on finance, Audley Shaw, last Tuesday addressed finance portfolio matters raised by Minister of Finance, Dr. Omar Davies.

On Thursday, Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Omar Davies, will close the Debate after Mr. Patterson's address.
