Glenmuir the talented bunch

SKEPTICS will be quick to point out Glenmuir's best chance of winning the daCosta Cup went last season when they had one of the best teams but came up just short, having to settle for the Ben Francis Knockout title.

Coach Glenston Hutchinson admitted the loss of players such as Marciano Benjamin, Rohan Smith, Omar Daley, goalkeeper Okiele Stewart and Phillip Fearon may reduce his team's chances of getting back to the semi-finals, but is not giving up hope.

Hutchinson described his team as "a talented bunch" and added its chances would be as good as any of the other 70 teams taking part in the competition and he was confident Glemuir would advance past the zone stages.

Glenmuir's preparation started late, Hutchinson said, but though he had enough time to set the foundation.

The Ben Francis KO champions have had mixed results in pre-season games, but Hutchinson said he was not paying much attention to results as they were still experimenting with their line up.

In the absence of the free-scoring Benjamin, Smith and Daley, Hutchinson said he was confident they would be a potent team this season and goals should come from all areas of the team.

National Under-17 player Sheldon Batiste, Denzil Watson and Oshane Ford will lead the team's attack as they try to get the better of the likes of Garvey Maceo, Lennon High and newcomers Bustamante High in Zone I.
