Six questions for the PM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

AT THEIR upcoming meeting on crime with the Prime Minister, perhaps the private sector leaders would ask him the following questions on our behalf?

1. Are all criminal deportees who are considered dangerous being subjected to the systematic monitoring originally promised?

2. What has been achieved to date under the Forfeiture of Proceeds and Assets Act?

3. Can the PM provide or have published the names of so-called drug barons successfully prosecuted before the local courts within, say, the past five years?

4. Is the PM satisfied that the parole system is free of corruption?

5. Is the Criminal Investigation Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Forces up to the personnel level desired by its High Command?

6. How can the legal system be further reformed to give greater protection to witnesses beyond the present Witness Protection Programme?

I would invite your readers to add other pertinent questions to this list.

I am, etc.,

GEORGE A. CAMPBELL
